The Posada ![]() |
We are in front of the Posada. The first thing we see are the towering wooden gates, above which theres a little roof lit by two lamps made in wrought iron. We pass through the gates and find ourselves in the middle of a wide farmyard with floors made in solid brick and decorated with slate in the fashion of a symmetrical cross. Two welcoming porches appear on both sides of the farmyard, the perfect places to rest in the cool shade through the hot hours of the day or to enjoy the warm summer nights. These porches were once the "socarrenas", spaces devoted to the storing of agricultural implements, the ploughing team or the oxcart, the traditional washing place... Everything could be found here, from spare bundles of hay, cages for the chicken and rabbits, feeding stuffs, and even the resting place for the keeper of the manor.

While we get closer and closer to the door leading to the inside of the building, we notice that, on the right side of the farmyard, there is a little square room, where we can find an elegant XIX century wooden table, over which hangs an eight-armed chandelier lamp that lights the room when the the light coming from the little window on the sidewall is not enough. Two beautiful views of the of the Santa Justa Beach hang from its white walls, inviting us to take a walk through the spectacular sorroundings of the Posada.

Main entrance, large chest and entrance to the dining-hall |
So were in front of the main entrance. On its left side we see a large wooden chest, and some metres away, another door, a table made in marble and wrought iron, a wooden chair and a window decorated with red-flowered cactuses. We are ready to go inside the Posada now.
Reach out and, holding strongly the golden handle of the double doors, cross the treshold of the welcoming lodging. The first thing you perceive is the majesty of the lamps, from which dozens of cylindrical threads hang. To our right we see the silent hearth, and close to it a most comfortable sofa with two big wing chairs. At the back, the secondary entrance gives access to the parking lot, in the backyard of the Posada. To our left, by the wall, there is a XVIII century sideboard made in solid mahogany that once belonged to the Villacarriedo Palace and above which hangs a big mirror. All these things and many others rest on the floors covered with wrinkled clay slabs.

We move ahead and find out, on the left side of the hall, an arched door made in stone, decorated with the flaming arms of a rising sun. It is the entrance to the dining-hall and the kitchen. Here we find the "couple" of the sideboard of the hall, and eight nib drawings representing famous places in Cantabria

We end up our walk through the ground floor and go up the queen of the house, a wonderful oak staircase lit by two lamps made in coloured glass. On both sides of a long corridor we find the eight doors leading to the rooms, each one of them with a different decoration, yet in the same classic elegant style: wardrobes, chairs, mirrors, paintings and chest of drawers that stand on either side of beds with wrought iron headboards and linen bedspreads. In each room there is a nice bathroom, decorated with floral motifs

Our walk ends in the second floor, where the four rooms of the attic invite us to rest and have some quiet. Without any doubt, they are the jewels of the Posada, and the rooms most requested by our clients.
In short, our Posada will allow you to enjoy your holidays while you are in touch with nature and the traditional ways of living of this wonderful region; here you will find quiet, comfort, and a nice and family treatment in a place of incomparable beauty.
